Warwick University is a public research university between the West Midlands and Warwickshire, England, on the outskirts of Coventry. It was founded as part of an effort by the government to expand higher education in 1965. Warwick Business School was set up within the University in 1967, Warwick Law School was set up in 1968, Warwick Manufacturing Group (now WMG) was set up in 1980, and Warwick Medical School was opened in 2000. In 1979 Warwick incorporated the Coventry College of Education and in 2004 Horticulture Research International.
Campus
Warwick is placed on the outskirts of Coventry, 5.5 km (3.4 miles) southwest of downtown (and not, as its name suggests, in the town of Warwick). The main site of the university comprises three adjoining campuses, all within walking distance. The university also owns a Wellesbourne location, which was acquired when it combined with Horticulture Research International in the year 2004.
