Stoke-on-Trent is abbreviated to Stoke is a city and unitary district with an area of 36 square miles (93 km2) in Staffordshire, England. It is part of North Staffordshire, along with the neighbouring boroughs of Newcastle-under-Lyme and Staffordshire Moorlands. The city had a population of 261,302 in 2016.

There are four local higher education schools, the City of Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College and Stoke-on-Trent University being the two further education colleges. Like all of the United Kingdom, Stoke-on-Trent experiences a temperate maritime atmosphere, lacking in extreme weather conditions. Due to its proximity to the Pennines, the local area is comparatively Pennies, resulting in cooler year-round temperatures compared to the surrounding Cheshire Plain.
