In the 2011 Census, Solihull is a large town and administrative centre in England with a population of 123,187. Solihull is located 12.1 km south-east of Birmingham, 29 km north-west of Warwick and 180 km north-west of London. Solihull is the richest city in the West Midlands and one of the richest areas outside of London in the UK. The Switch Quality of Life Index named Solihull in November 2013 as the "best place to live" in the UK.
Education
Solihull does not have a single university, but within 26 km from the town, there are seven universities; five in Birmingham and two in Coventry. However, Solihull College, was previously known as the Solihull College of Technology, incorporates a University Centre which provides many degree and full degree courses, particularly in technical subjects such as computer science and engineering. A Sixth Form College is also situated on the outskirts of the city centre, known as Solihull Sixth Form College. Solihull School is an independent school situated near the city centre on Warwick Avenue. It was established in 1560. In 2010, it celebrated its 450th anniversary.
