Plymouth is a port city on the south coast of Devon, England, about 37 miles (60 km) southwest of Exeter and 190 miles (310 km) west-southwest of London. The mouths of the Plym River and the Tamar River, which are naturally merged into Plymouth Sound to form a border with Cornwall, are surrounded by the region.
Education
The University of Plymouth has a total of 23,155 students. It also hires 2,900 staff with a yearly income of about £ 160 million. There are also two major colleges in the city. The City College Plymouth provides courses for approximately 26,000 students from the most basic to foundation degrees. The Plymouth College of Art offers a range of courses, including media.
Economy
Because of its coastal region, Plymouth's economy has been maritime, with more than 12,000 people working in the defense sector and about 7,500 in the armed forces. Plymouth has a shopping area in the center of the city after the war.
