Norwich is a city in Norfolk, England. It lies approximately 160 km north-east of London, on the River Wensum in East Anglia. It is the county town of Norfolk with a population of 141,300 and is considered the capital of East Anglia. The city is the complete medieval city in the United Kingdom, with cobbled streets such as Elm Hill, Timber Hill and Tombland.
Education
The city has 56 primary schools and 13 secondary schools, including 16 academies and free schools. The eight independent schools in the city include Norwich School and Norwich Girls High School and five schools for children who have learning disabilities are also located here. Norwich has two universities, the University of East Anglia and Norwich University of the Arts. There are about 15,000 students in the city, many of whom come from overseas. Established in 1963, the University of East Anglia is situated in the outskirts of the city. The university campus is home to the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, where several important art collections are located.
