Lincoln is a Lincolnshire cathedral and county town in England's East Midlands. Lincoln's non-metropolitan area had a population of 94,600 in 2012. The 2011 census brought a population of 130,200 to the urban area of Lincoln, including North Hykeham and Waddington.
Economy
Despite industrial remnants like Ruston still in place, Lincoln's economy is based primarily on public administration, commerce, arable farming and tourism. Lincoln's main job fields are; public administration, education, and health, which accounts for 34% of the workforce. Distribution, restaurants and hotels make up 25% of the workforce.
Education
Lincoln College, the largest educational institution in Lincolnshire, offers training courses to 18,500 students, of whom 2,300 are full-time. There is also an expert creative college, Access Creative, which offers music, media and games design courses and is available to about 180 full-time students. Across Lincolnshire, the school system was anomalous despite being part of the same local education authority (LEA), as most of Lincolnshire maintained the grammar school system.
