Inverness is an ancient cathedral city located in the Scottish Highlands. It is known as the capital of Highlands. The actual meaning of the name of the city is “Mouth of the River Ness”. It is also the Highland council's administrative centre. The population as of 2012 is close to 46,869. This is one of Europe’s fastest-growing cities. The city has a high quality of life as it is ranked 5th out of 189 British cities.

Transport
The high land council manages the bus station which is situated at Farraline Park. The bus station was replaced with a new terminal building in the early 2000s. Buses are operated from the Inverness airport to the bus station.
