Gatwick airport is the second busiest airport after Heathrow airport. It is located in Crawley in West Sussex. It is located at a distance of 47.5 km south of central London. The airport has two terminals, namely the north terminal and the south terminal, which cover an area of 192,000 square yards.
It is operated on a single runway which is 10879 feet in length. A secondary runway can only be used when the main runway is out of use. The reason is that it is located very close to the main runaway. In 2018 a total of 46.1 million passed through the airport.
Transport
The airport railway station which is very close to the south terminal. It provides a connection from Victoria to Brighton Main Line and also to the London bridge station. The best known service from the railway station is the Gatwick Express. Great Western and Thameslink are the other companies which use the station. Direct trains to Luton airport are provided by Thameslink.
