Canterbury

Canterbury is an English cathedral city located on the bank of river Stour. The city’s cathedral became a major attraction for pilgrimage following the death of Thomas Becket. Canterbury is one of the most visited cities of the United Kingdom. The economy of the city is dependent upon tourism. The area is filled with many historical structures such as the city wall which was founded in the Roman Times.

 Education

There are three universities namely, the University of Kent, Canterbury Christ Church University, the University for the Creative Arts, and the Girne American University Canterbury campus. All three universities have a substantial student population. In terms of geographical size, Canterbury remains to be a very small city.

 Transport

Canterbury has two railway stations namely, Canterbury East and Canterbury West. Both of them are located in the west of the city centre. The South Eastern operates both of these stations. High-speed trains to London run through Canterbury West railway station. Trains that go from London Victoria to Dover pass through Canterbury East railway station.
