Bath

Bath is one of the largest cities of England and is located in the valley of the River Avon. In the year 1987, it became a World Heritage Site. The religious centre Bath Abbey was founded in the seventh century.

The industries which are part of the city are publishing, software and service-oriented. The city has become a major centre for tourism because of the museums, theatres and sporting venues.

Transport

Park and ride schemes have been introduced in order to reduce the level of car use. Under the new south gate shopping centre, city centre parking was provided. The coach services are operated by National Express from the Bath bus station to a number of cities. Numerous services to the surrounding towns are operated by the FareSaver bus company. Double-decker bus tours are operated by the Bath bus company. Frequent services to the Bristol airport are provided by the Bath bus company. Services to Tetbury are provided by Stagecoach west.
