How Is Six Sigma Training Useful?

One important aspect when it comes to a company irrespective of its size is the quality of the company or an enterprise. There is no alternative for quality. Even though there are multiple companies producing or delivering the same type of product, the one who provides better quality will always stay ahead among the rest irrespective o the price tag. That is the importance that the consumers give for the quality of the product that they purchase and to ensure that a company is delivering better quality, they have a separate department for analysing quality. There were multiple ways that were followed to analyse the quality of the product, however, the latest and the most accurate means is Six Sigma training. What is so special about Six Sigma? The answer for this question can be understood only if we know what exactly Six Sigma is and how it is calculated to get better results in quality. Before Six Sigma came into existence, all the companies were using only percentage measurement to calculate quality and they strive to get 100 percent quality on the products that they produce or deliver.

This is because, on using percentage calculations, what we exactly do is we give the quality report for 1 defect in 100 opportunities. For example, let us take a company which is manufacturing thousands of numbers of a product each day and to do a percentage calculation what they do is that they randomly select 100 number of the product and check for the defect and they calculate it and give the measurement in percentage. Even though this is correct, since we consider only 100 numbers out of thousands, the opportunity or the probability of getting a defected piece is very minimal. However, when it comes to Six Sigma, it is calculated as 1 defect per million opportunities. Due to this, there is more probability of finding the defected piece using Six Sigma and there is a better opportunity for the company to get more appropriate quality report and thereby this would make them improve their quality standards better.

In short, the major calculation term used in Six Sigma calculation is DPMO which is nothing but the abbreviated term of Defects per Million Opportunities. This is the major part in Six Sigma calculations and this is where Six Sigma becomes much more accurate. It is said that Six Sigma is 99.99666666 percent accurate. However, with this calculation, it becomes very tough for a company to achieve this percentage, however, a figure around that in Six Sigma calculation result proves to be much more perfect than the percentage calculations. Now, most of the enterprises are using Six Sigma as their quality measurement method. Moreover, they need a Six Sigma certified professional for their quality team. The Six Sigma certification has multiple stages and it starts with a Six Sigma yellow belt for the basics, Six Sigma green belt for intermediate, Six Sigma Black belt for senior level and Six Sigma Master Black belt for the masters which is the last and the most advanced certification in Six Sigma.
